Green HSE: Willingness to Participate in Eco-Friendly Practices

In 2021, the Green HSE student organisation approached the Centre for Institutional Research to conduct a survey. They wanted to find out whether HSE students and staff follow eco-friendly practices, want to be involved in ecological activities, and support Green HSE. We conducted a survey and found out that 33–50% of students and HSE faculty engage in eco-friendly practices in daily life: they use reusable items (eg cups, tableware, shopper bags), collect materials for recycling, monitor electricity consumption, and give away items for reuse.

Three out of four surveyed students and faculty members are willing to sort waste at HSE buildings if appropriate facilities are provided. Students say they could be motivated by well-organised infrastructure for trash sorting and instructions at sorting points. Faculty members note that well-organised infrastructure and e-mail digests with eco-friendly activities could help promote eco-friendly initiatives at HSE.
